Gosh. Haven't posted in a while. Sorry. Life has been a bit too full for my taste. Instead of listing all the things that make my life so busy right now, I am writing about what is consuming my thought life.
I am blessed.
I had an idea of how blessed I am but I think I am more aware of it now. We often take things for granted even when we don't mean to. ...at least I do. Life is a giant, messy blur right now; too fast and crazy. More sleep is needed, the house is eternally cluttered and there are too many things on the back-burner. These things have bothered me for months and now they don't seem to matter as much.
Papa (Toby's dad) was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma last week (ish). I immediately felt overwhelmed with the familiar "freak-out" feeling. Both my parents have cancer, and I didn't want to revisit the initial feelings I had when I heard their news. There are no words that express the grief I went through before Papa's prognosis. There were several weeks of "unknown," worry, sleepless nights, humongous "lump in my throat" - "please don't touch me or I will burst into tears" moments. I felt like I needed to be strong. I felt like I couldn't let my kids see me cry because I couldn't tell them what was wrong because I didn't know. No one knew! I hated seeing my husband walk around in a daze. When Mom (Granny) told me the news of his prognosis, I locked my bedroom door and sat on my bed and cried for over 30 minutes. I was so relieved.
As much as I do not like that Papa has cancer, I am thankful it is a curable kind. Through this mess, I have learned how much I really care about him. I feel like I was reminded of the reasons I adore him because we feared we were losing him. I love how he loves my babies, his tickly mustache kisses, his heart-felt belly laugh. I love that he comes to my house, puts an empty mason jar in my hand and doesn't need to say anything...he just smiles because he knows I know he needs more salsa. We always have hazelnut coffee in the fridge because we know it's his favorite; we want to be prepared in case he wants to tell us one of his stories over a cup of coffee. We stop everything to hear them! He paints my daughter's toe nails and fingernails and has a drawer full of nail polish so she has a choice of color. He never misses special events for the kids. Granny and Papa are unique, beautiful and cherished people in my life.
Words cannot express my gratitude, God. I am overwhelmed at the blessing you gave me in them. I am so thankful that three people that I cherish and love have cancer and are still here. They are still laughing with me, loving on my children, reaching out to others and greatly effecting me and my family's life.
I cherish my momma, my daddy and Papa. I now know how much.

These are not the droids you are looking for....
I took my kiddos to the library tonight. Jacob stopped about 3 feet from the automatic door, resumed a lunge stance, threw his right arm out in front of him and froze with a fierce look in his eyes. The door quietly opened and he smugly walked through it. Sonya: (giggling) Jacob: "So, what's wrong with using the force, Mom?" Sonya: "Nothing, Jacob. I just think you're awesome."

Bean Dip
Mental note: Silly putty is cool. Silly putty is NOT cool when a 3 year old forgets where she left it. Silly putty looks like dried bean dip when it gets stuck in between the cushions of the couch. Silly putty is harder to get off the couch than bean dip. Silly putty covered in couch fuzz looks fantastic in the trash.
I seriously thought it was bean dip. I had my birthday party with my dancing friends last night. Yes, bean dip was served. Jacob found it tonight; it has been there FOR WEEKS!! Rianna was distraught because she couldn't find it anywhere. We looked all over the place.
Obviously we did not look everywhere.

The Amazing Spider....er...Family
So last night, we watched Spider Man I with Jacob; it was his first time seeing it. He struggled with nightmares for a long time so we were hesitant to let him see it until now. The Green Goblin is downright spooky, but he seemed to do great with it.
Today Jacob sat down and started working hard on something. He spent quite a long time in front of a piece of paper with a sharp pencil and a ruler. When he was finally done he ran over to me and explained what he had been working on. It went something like this...
"Mom, this is my latest invention. It is a machine that kills spiders, takes out their web makers, and gets the stuff off the ends of their legs that helps them stick to walls. I will keep killing and collecting that stuff until there is enough of it for our family. Then the four of us can be like SPIDER MAN! I still can't figure out how to get a 'Spidey Sense' for all of us though."

Feeling loved! :)
Nothing to do.....
Me: "What do you want to do Jacob? Read a book?"
Jacob: (going to the project cabinet and standing in front of it) "I am going to make a laser. (long pause) Do you know how to make a laser, Mom?"

The Derby Water Park with the Johnsons
Wow. What a fun day we had! We. Are. Pooped!
The Johsnons came through Wichita again today to celebrate Emmanuel's birthday; their family and ours went to the Derby Water Park. The place was SWARMING with people, but we really had fun. We slathered ourselves with sunscreen and got wet (well all of us but Ruth and me...we spent our time chasing our boys and taking pictures!).
Jacob seem to pack courage in his back pocket today, because he did a lot of stuff I didn't expect! He went down the slides either by himself or with Emmanuel (no adult)! The BIGGEST accomplishment was his first time jumping off a high dive! He told me he was interested in going, so I told him to get in line. As he was waiting, I decided to let him know that when he would get to the top and walk down to the edge of the diving board, it would all the sudden seem much further down than when he was looking up at it from the side of the pool. I told him to just take a deep breath and go for it.
When he got the edge, he looked at me and said, "Um. No. I don't think I can do this, Mom." I reminded him of our conversation and told him to just try. He surprised me by smiling and saying, "OKAY!" With that, he plugged his nose, closed his eyes and jumped in...feet first (I told him to do this too!). He came up screaming, "Emmanuel!! You have GOT to try this!"
hahaha!! I was pretty darn proud of him!
We had such a grand time with our friends! We are excited that we get to hang out with them again on Tuesday morning. That will be the last time we see them before they return to Beijing.

Fashion Queen
Rianna: "I want to wear a dress today, Mommy."
Me: "...but you told me you wanted to wear a belt. You don't have a dress with belt loops"
Rianna: "Oh. That's right. I need to wear belt loops." (sigh) "Ok. I will wear something with belt loops today and I'll wear a dress tomorrow."
My three-year-old's fashion awareness is scary

Me: "Oh ya? How cool! What's your super power, Purple?"
Rianna: "I make purple things and throw them."

Success!
Whew. That was harder than I thought! Toby and I celebrated 15 years of marriage last Thursday, the 17th. I decided to surprise him with a little mini trip to a bed and breakfast in Abilene, KS. I did lots of research and was very happy that I ended up choosing Abilene.
For starters, he actually had a Saturday OFF!! I called a few people and had all of his "duties" taken care of. I let Master Kim know that we would have Jacob take his belt test on the make up day, I arranged for Sunday School to be taught by someone else, I texted our Saturday church to let them know we were not going to be there, and I prayed that Toby wouldn't be called into work.
The only glich was that Toby ended up not going into work on Friday night until 8:15PM. I had planned on going with the kids to run some last minute errands, but the Toby's truck was late, so he didn't need to go in until later. I thought quickly and thought of some excuse to run to the store and he said he would just hang out with the kiddos until I got back! Yay! I got everything I needed and it worked out.
As soon as Daddy left, I let the kids in on the surprise. I knew better than to tell them before then because they are not so good at keeping secrets! :) I sent them to bed and started packing and cleaning. I think I went to bed at 2:30! Holy moly! ...but I got it all done! I had a hard time packing though! Usually I lay everything out so that I can have it ready to go in the morning, but I couldn't do that because when Toby got home, he might think something was fishy. So, I did my best at hiding things and headed to bed.
I was up early the next morning and I headed to Mom's to drop them off. She's a saint!!! She worked the previous night and had not really slept, but watched my kiddos anyway. Yay Mom!!! Thank you! You rock!
I headed home, put some last minute things in the car and woke Toby at 8:45AM. I told him, "Welcome to a day full of surprises. Our children are not here. Do not ask questions; I will let you know information as needed. You need to shave and dress casually."
He woke up immediately and jumped in the shower! He got ready and then I had him sit in the car while I gathered our toiletries so he wouldn't know we were staying the night somewhere else!
We grabbed some breakfast and hit the road. Our first stop was the LeBold Mansion. Wow. Our docent was originally from San Francisco and had a ton of experience in antiques and history. We had a tour and asked tons of questions. It truly was very fascinating!
We had a couple of hours to kill before check in (no, he still didn't know!) so we headed to the Abilene Visitor's Bureau. They gave us lots of ideas and we decided Old Abilene would be fun. We found a gift shop in the vicinity. It was a long building that was obviously several different businesses. At the very end of the building was a wax museum. It cost a WHOPPING buck! Neither of us had ever seen a wax museum. It was pretty interesting but towards the exit, the last bay of "dummies" had lighting issues. It looked as if a circuit blew or something. We were trying to read the plaques in each exhibit and it started to get downright creepy in there! Ok. All done! LOL.
We went into the gift shop and bought something for the kiddos.
After that, we went to the Old Town Abilene section. ...lots of really old buildings, a working train that you can ride in and even have dinner, an old working carousel ...a ton of really cool stuff. It was pretty warm so we headed to the "saloon" to see what they had to offer. As we walked in a group of older folks were sitting around a circular table. A few tables were spread around the small room, and off to the right was a well-lit, low stage. We later found out the stage was for the can-can girls. In that small room that might have been a bit awkward! All the way in the back was the bar. there were no seats in front of it and an older gal was behind the bar. As we walked in, the crowd at the table immediately stopped their conversation and leaned in close to each other. They started speaking in low tones, and looking at us and smiling. It was charming to know that we gave them something to talk about! :) We went to the "bartender" and asked her what she had to drink.
"Sarsaparilla." ...long wait... "Oh, we also have ice cream. Vanilla."
Me: "um. Ok! We'll take a Sarsaparilla!" It cracked me up. We ended up standing there and talking to her for 30 minutes about the town. She owned all the buildings in Old Town and she was chalk full of interesting info!
After finishing our drink we walked outside and watch the worst gun fight we have ever seen! LOL! It was terrible! We were right in the middle of the audience and we terrified if we left the gunfighters would make a scene...so we decided to stay put! Oh gosh! We bolted as soon as we could!
We went to the Abilene Victorian Bed and Breakfast. Toby was indeed surprised! He said he had a hunch I was up to something because he noticed that Google had really "interesting" search queries...but he had no idea what was up my sleeve! Yay! We checked in (Mamie's Honeymoon Suite) and got settled. Oh! It was so beautiful!! The Host gave us a tour of the house and we got to see all the rooms. This place was unbelievable! We changed our clothes and headed to dinner at the Kirby House. Yum! Big beautiful restaurant that was owned by the same man who owned the LeBold Mansion. They actually looked exactly alike except the surface. The LeBold Mansion is made of limestone and the Kirby House is made of wood.
After dinner we took a trolley tour of the city. All I can say is, "What a neat town!!" Breakfast was awesome the next morning and our company was delightful. After we packed up our room we went the the Eisenhower Museum. We should have started there because we felt so rushed after being there for two hours. Wow. I'd like to say a lot more about this place, but I think I might save that for another post.
We grabbed a bite at La Fiesta and then headed home. The trip home seemed a lot longer than the trip there! :) It was so nice to hang out with Toby with no agenda. We have always loved going to museums and long walks to explore new places. It was nice not to rush...and even nicer to hang out with my awesome hubby!
We both needed that weekend so much. Thanks God.

Freaked. Me. Out.
Oh my stars!!! I put Rianna down for her afternoon nap today and as I pulled back the covers, she jumped and screamed, "SPIDER!" I pulled back the sheets and watched a LARGE spider crawling frantically down her sheets. I called Toby to help me identify it. Yep. A Brown Recluse. DANG!!! IT WAS IN MY BABY'S BED!!!!!!!
Thank you Jesus for protecting her!! Thank you that she saw it...I was not paying attention to her sheets!
Needless to say, I am now. I cleaned up her room (whooey! It was in quite a state!) since her books and play food were everywhere. I also swept it. ...and I checked her sheets before she crawled in bed. There are spider traps in there and I will change them tomorrow. I also checked Jacob's sheets and will be cleaning his room tomorrow as well as replacing his spider traps.
Oh gosh, it really freaked me out. Thank you Jesus for protecting my precious children!

HA! I love this! My daddy taught this to Jacob a long time ago. Jacob loves walking around the house saying it...I guess Rianna was listening!! Too cute!

Have you ever noticed?
I know...three posts in one day. :P
So, I notice something interesting. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I am praying consistently every morning. Not anything like I want it to be, but I think it's a good start. I used to pray a lot more but for some reason I stopped. Anyway, I have consistently been praying every morning as soon as I get up. It's been awesome and I love it.
...something that I am noticing though is that the more I pray, the more people ask me to pray for them. I have not advertised that I am praying more now, it has just happened. Two people approached me today and asked me to pray for a major thing that is happening in their life. Several people have approached me over the past few days.
Um. Ok. I'll pray. I just think it's interesting...

Oh Jacob....
Jacob came upstairs into the living room after spending a few minutes in the basment. He was carrying a box of nails, a hammer, some drill bits and a small piece of wood. "Mom, one look at you car and I can build an engine out of a piece of this wood! Can I borrow some of Dad's tools?"
Me: "Um, not right now."
Geez. What else could I say??
Wow. That kid keeps me busy.

Catchin' up...
Today promised to be a crazy day. I started to list the things we needed to do today in paragraph form a moment ago but it started to get confusing so I am deciding to put it in a bulleted list. (Big breath)...her it goes:
• Toby worked late
• Toby has to teach Sunday School this morning at 9:30
• Jacob has TKD from 2:30-4PM
• Rianna will need a nap
• Toby will need a nap
• we have to drop off Mom's car at the airport because she is coming home from Vegas tonight
• Toby needs to go out to the garden in Derby to check on it
• he also needs to mow Mom and Dad's yard
• I have to open tonight for dance
• I am teaching the beginning Lindy Hop class
• I am doing music tonight
• Mom and Dad are out of town so I also get to bring my kids to dance. We won't get home until 10:30-ish
• Toby leaves for work at 5:30
I was dreading today, but there was nothing to do about it except put my best foot forward and not complain about it. I put my kids down on time last night hoping they would get a full night sleep, so we could hit the ground running today. Needless to say, when I checked on my kids at 10:30 or 11, they were both still up (I have no idea why).
Sigh.
I stayed up late last night building my music list for tonight and then scoured the Internet looking for a good idea to teach Sunday School for my hubby. I knew he wouldn't get home until VERY late, so I was hoping I could teach for him (Jeremy and Dave were not available...they are the usual back-ups). After a lot of frustration, I finally texted Toby and asked him what he wanted me to do. He said not to worry about it and that he would just teach. I really wanted to bless him. I am so impressed with how God has gifted him in teaching; it is so effortless and natural for him. I can do it, but I really have to work on it. So, he woke up this morning tired but willing. I sure do love Toby.
So, I woke up at 7:30 and started to pray like I normally do. I then realized I misjudged my wake up time and should have set my alarm for 7:15. Ugh. I guess I get to pray in the shower! Not ideal, but it's what I can do. I ran to the bathroom and started to get myself ready to get in the shower.
Pitter-patter-pitter-patter.
I peeked down the hall to see my Anna Boo carrying her bunny. She was whimpering. Uh-oh. "What's wrong, Baby?" "Mommy, I think I'm sick. I just threw up a little." She did throw up a little. Not much at all actually. No temperature. I just kept an eye on her. I thought I would give her the test to see if it was a bug or if it was her just coughing too hard. I gave her some milk (her regular routine in the morning) and she puked. Poor thing. I have tried giving her little bits of food because she says she's hungry but she just kept puking. She is finally keeping something down now. I just gave her a piece of toast and her tummy still hurts but she's keeping it down.
I guess my day isn't as crazy as I thought it was going to be. After lots of phone calls, all my duties for this evening are taken care of. I feel blessed to work with wonderful people on the board. I am also looking forward to a quiet evening at home with my kiddos. Thanks God.
On a different note, I took some pictures of our back yard. We have three fruit trees (cherry, peach and apple) and all three of them have fruit on them!! The cherries are the most impressive! :) We also have a compost pile in the back corner of the yard. Ha ha!! Looks like we are growing some extra things back there that we didn't plan! There are tomato plants and pumpkins growing out of our compost! I think we are going to try to keep them...Ha! Why not? :)
Well, I am watching Rianna eating a second piece of toast. Let's hope it stays down!

Eye opening
The first time I have been on my computer today was about an hour or so ago. Toby and I were talking last night about how we spend our time. I had been praying about it and I mentally started adding up what I spend most of my waking hours doing.
I found out that I really like my computer. A lot.
Then on a whim I noted (just for one day) how much Toby spent on his computer. He likes his computer a lot too.
I immediately thought, "Geez!! It isn't bad! I need to check my email! I need to monitor our bank accounts! I need to know what is going on outside my house!" ...but I also love to facebook, play games, and read nonsense I get pulled into while reading the news. You Tube can suck me away endlessly.
Okay. So I still don't think any of them are necessarily bad. BUT! One of my discoveries was that I spend several HOURS collectively on my computer in one day. Granted, it's 15 minutes here, 10 minutes there, 30 minutes while kids are occupied, etc. Yikes. I knew I squeezed a good amount in every day, but I didn't know it was that much!
So, Toby and I agreed that we would not go on the computer during the day unless it was a pressing issue or necessity. We agreed that we would do our minimal computer stuff that we enjoy after the kids were in bed. It was hard. I had no idea how much I am drawn to it.
This is crazy. Here I am, at the end of my day, and I am remembering all I accomplished. Ready!!!?? I kept my house tidy, watched Natasha, took a short nap, folded laundry, played Skip Bo, Uno and Chutes and Ladders with one or both of my kids, cleaned out all of Rianna's drawers and replaced the winter clothes with the spring / summer ones, ...the list seems endless to me! I also just hung out with my family. Wow. I doubt it will be like this everyday I decide not to use my computer until after dark, but it sure was an encouraging start.
Toby and I decided to just get our news off of his XM during the day. We will just keep it on throughout the day to make sure we know what's going on in the world.
Day one accomplised. Cool. :)

A good visit with the Johnsons
We have some friends who are missionaries from Beijing. They have been there for the past three years and the year before that, they lived in Nebraska. We love and miss them immensely. They came back to visit and we spent the morning with them at Watson Park. It was good to see and hang out with them. Emmanual is a year younger than Jacob and Jacob adores that little boy. Shenae and Rianna don't remember each other, but played and played! We enjoyed seeing Mohamed and the Joneses too!! I took several pictures. They will be leaving soon as Bert has lots of churches to visit here in the states before they return to China. Be safe dear Friends. We will continue to pray for you and your wonderful ministry.

Awana
Yay! Last night was the final night of AWANA. Toby had the night off because his schedule was altered so he could do an "over the roads" shift this morning. It was so awesome having him there for the award ceremony! Yay! This was Jacob's last night of Sparks and he will be in TnT next year. He worked very hard these past three years. He finished all three of his books and all three of his workbooks. He received his Sparky Award and was BEAMING when they gave it to him. There were only two children who received it.
Way to go Son. We are very proud of you!!! I will upload pics later this afternoon...

Familial Hilarity
So, as you know I often post things to facebook that my kiddos say. They crack me up regularly. I have chosen to write them down so I won't forget the awesomeness of their hilarity! I am going to try to be good about posting them here too so they are all in one place.
Jacob: "Mom, will you please Google, 'How to become a Jedi Master.' Go ahead. I'll wait."

Bouncing Baby Boy
Holy moly. My kid is DEFINITELY on Prednisone. Did you ever play pinball? I thought of "pong" too... but that wasn't quite fast enough for a good description of what Jacob is doing today. About an hour after I gave him his steroid he started running back and forth, touching every wall that barricaded him from continuing down the block. This included the basement, the main floor, and the upstairs. All the while he is trying to hear me as we started school. I can't believe we actually finished school today!! He finally calmed down a bit but was still pretty antsy.
In other news, we are excited! Toby has been in CA with our friend Eric since Sunday, and will be coming home in a little over an hour. He went there to help my momma get Grandpa's house ready to sell. I think he was a little frustrated as he did not get as much as he wanted done. I hope it blessed her though.
Tootle loo for now...I'm off to try to catch a cute bouncin' kiddo!

Just a spoonful of...honey?
So, Jacob had ear tubes put in and his adenoids removed at the end of March. Things were gong very well after that, actually. He stopped yelling all the time (he couldn't here) and that was glorious. He was a champ and bounced right back. He still needed to take all his allergy meds unfortunately, but all in all, we were happy with the decision to have him go through with the surgery.
A couple of days ago, he started coughing. This is normal. He has horrible allergies. No biggie. I started to have to give him benadyrl at night because he had the post nasal drip thing going on. Then last night, on the way home from Riverfest, he YELPED in the back seat. He cupped his ear and told me his left ear really hurt. Well, after some more benadryl (still coughing) and some Advil, I sent him to bed. Then I called Mom Atencio (she's a nurse). She thought the same thing I did...something is wrong with the ear tubes. I checked on him once again. He had a fever. Ugh.
So, I took the poor little dude into the doctors office today to check on his ear tubes.
Good grief.
His ear tubes are fine. My poor baby has fungus growing in his ears. Geez!!! She said there was fungus growing in both ears, he's wheezing, and has a low grade fever. POOR KID! The doc thinks that it has everything to do with allergies. So, he's on an inhaler, a steroid, ear drops (4x a day!!), and a Z-pack. He missed AWANA tonight and TKD earlier. He was so bummed. Hopefully he will start feeling better soon.
Ha! We were listening to the radio on the way back from the doctors and the DJ mentioned eating a teaspoon of local honey (not store bought from somewhere else) helps allergies. It has all the local pollen in it and it makes you immune. Heck. I am willing to give it a shot!
Darn. I get to eat honey eveyday. Darn.

Um. Too long.
Wow. I didn't realize it had been that long since I posted. Yikes!
I have been collecting cute things that my kiddos say and I often post them on facebook. Here are some of my favs:
(J=Jacob, R=Rianna, S=Sonya)
--------------------------------------------------------
• One of the joys of parenthood: finding string cheese in your pencil drawer. Ew. (March 27, 2009 at 6:14pm)
• Sonya and Toby just got WHIPPED playing Monopoly with our 7 year old. For crying out loud!! It was his first time playing too! (April 17, 2009 at 10:32pm)
• In the backseat of the car: Jacob: "I want to invent something!" Sonya: "Cool! What?" J: "I'll call it 'The box of muscles!'" S: "Tell me more!" J: "It'll be a box full of muscles you can take out and put on whenever you need to pick something up that is too heavy’(May 20, 2009)
• Jacob noticed a car accident on the way home tonight. "Mom? Can we pray for them?" Sonya: "Absolutely!" After I prayed a bit, he did too. Then he ended with this: "...and please help them not to have to get a new car. ...but if they have to, please give them a sparkly one.” (May 31, 2009 at 11:50pm)
• Rianna: When I grow up, I can be Tinker Bell with Tinker Bell wings... and SPARKLES. **giggle...GRIN**
• I just finished washing the car. ...and my kids in the front yard! ;) They started playing with bubbles, spilled it all over the porch. So, I had to wash the porch off of course. They just got in the way! :) He he! (August 28, 2009 at 6:23pm)
• Sonya just came home. As we pulled into driveway, my 3 year old began to sob uncontrollably. She walked into the house, crumbled onto the floor...face down, and cried. Screamed. ...and people wonder why we don't skip naps too often. Oy vey! : ) (November 18, 2009 at 9:49pm)
• Grimm Fairy Tales vs. DC Comics. Episode 1. Jacob (wearing a cape and Batman mask): "Rianna, are you ready to play Batman and Princess?" Rianna: "No, I want to be Green Lantern." (She is sporting a plastic tiara with clip on gaudy dangly earrings).
• You know it's bad when your son comes over to you an hour and a half after dinner and says to you, "Mom, what's for dinner?" GOOD GRIEF! He never stops eating!! I have a hobbit! I keep checking his feet for tufts of hair! November 20, 2009 at 8:20pm)
• So I said to Jacob earlier today..."Jacob, do you know where Daddy is? I can't find him." Jacob answers (with a straight face, I might add), "Mom, he must have taken his invisible pill. You can't see him." (November 27, 2009 at 7:30pm)
• Jacob: "Mom, what do they all Captain America (the superhero) in China? Captain China?" (November 28, 2009 at 8:21pm)
• Jacob was having a rough morning, which in turn was making mine rough. Out of the blue he looked at me and said, "Mom, I am having a bad morning. I really need a song in my heart. Can you help me?" We learned what Eph. 5:19 meant last week."Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make ...music in your heart to the Lord," I needed to take his advice too; thanks son. We're singing now. (December 1, 2009 at 11:34am)
• This afternoon Jake says (showing me his K'Nex creation), "Mom, this is a protector gun. It works like this..." (he shows me his fancy moves) "It also has a safety lock" (a clip on the end of the 'gun' so the little blue rings on it won't fly off when in action). Then he says nothing for a moment. ... then ... "It's... also a musical instrument." He then shakes the 'gun' (along with his booty). (December 5, 2009 at 10:55pm)
• Rianna: "Mommy!!!! God made rain and snow and CHEESE!" (December 8, 2009 at 12:37pm)
• Rianna: "Mommy, I hate Satan. He's the bad guy."
• Everyone finished dinner except for my Anna Boo, so I got up to put some dishes in the sink. When I came back to the table I looked in the butter dish and found two stripes in the butter where two tiny fingers were drawing things. Hmmm. I wonder who that was. (December 16, 2009 at 6:00pm)
• Jacob started a two sided puzzle. He told Rianna to twirl like a princess & to dance; he was going to use her 'magic' wand & turn the puzzle into a different one. She twirled & danced as a princess should. Then he looked at me, said, "Shhh" & flipped the puzzle over. He used the 'magic' wand & said, "Keep dancing or it won't work!" When she looked at it, it was magically different! He's a great brother! (December 25, 2009 at 7:52pm)
• Rianna: Mommy, God makes me feel princessy. (December 26, 2009)
• Jacob was being too quiet. I sneaked down the hall to my bedroom where I knew he was hiding. A bunch of small furniture things were in the hall outside my bedroom door. This made me very curious so I went to the bedroom door and peaked in the room to find out when my boy was doing. He was trying to surprise me with a vacuumed room! :) (December 30, 2009)
• Jacob is working on adding things to his Invention Folder. 'Mom, I’m making a ticket for people to buy; it will take them to where no man has gone before.'
• Sonya bought some shoes today for herself. Jacob: 'Are you going to make those into dance shoes too?' Me: 'Geez am I that predictable?' (February 11 at 6:38pm )
• Jacob said something like this to me earlier, 'If I buy my future wife a plastic spider ring for her wedding ring, will she yell at me?' (February 26 at 6:07pm)
• Jacob: Is anyone else here? Me: Ain't nobody here but us chickens...ain't nobody here at all... (insert musical notes here) Jacob: I'M NOT A CHICKEN! (March 17 at 8:07pm)
• Jacob got a hold of a decent size box & cut a circle in the center of it. He then took the part he cut out & made a "remote." He handed it to me & told me this was my remote control for cleaning. He put his box on (head through the hole) & smiled at me. I pushed "CU" (clean up) & he got to work! There's a "WD" button (wash & dry) & last but not least, a "Do anything button!" Wahoo! (March 20 at 8:44pm)
• (me speaking to Rianna). S: "Are you a smart cookie, Rianna?" R: "Well, yes. I am...and a good cookie." (March 29, 2010)
• Waiting. Waiting. Jacob is having ear tubes put in & his adenoids removed right now. Just waiting. Sigh. (March 31 at 9:13am)
• At Dillons (our local supermarket): J: (to the gal bagging our groceries) "Can my sister and I please have a sticker?" Girl: "Sure!" She hands them two round Dillons stickers, one for each kiddo. Rianna immediately peals her sticker off and slaps it on top of her eye and screams, "ARGH!! I'm a pirate!" (April 2, 2010)
• Sonya had a great time dancing tonight (duh!). My kiddos came with me and had their "cute dials" turned WAY up! :) (April 11, 2010)
• R: “I had a dream last night.” S: “What was it about?” R: “Ugliwogs in a cave. That’s where they live.” S: “Um. Honey, what’s an ugliwog?” R: (Insert ‘rolling eyes’ that say, 'Don’t you know anything, Mommy?') “A tickler! He takes his toes off and tickles you! I don’t like him. ...but he’s funny.” S: “Um. Wow.” (April 14, 2010)
• Sonya made snickerdoodles with my Anna-Boo. She was covered in cinnamon! My kitchen and house are in shambles but WOW does it smell AWESOME in here! :) (April 16, 2010)
• (On our way to the YMCA) J: (from the back seat) 'I just saw a tater tot.' R&S: (??????) S: Describe the tater tot you saw, Honey. (J gives a brief description) S: (laughing hard): 'Jacob, you mean teeter totter! NOT tater tot!' R: 'Come sit on the tater-totter!' (laughing) (Geez, I almost had to pull over we were ...all laughing so hard...) (April 22, 2010)
• My litlle Anna Boo is brushing my hair and attempting to put a barrette in my giant mane. Good luck with that, Baby. I tell you...my hair sure looks 'purty' right now. ;) (April 23, 2010)
• J: "Mom, I need to watch Star Wars a bunch a bunch a bunch of times so I can learn how to become a Jedi. Once I learn, I will train my family. Then I will make a real light saber and become rich. ...and I can meet Yoda." (April 28, 2010)
• Thought I'd put a movie on for my kiddos so i could get some cleaning projects done this evening. I popped in Wall-E and started to walk away, then thought, "I'll just watch the beginning!" 1.5 hours later I was under a blanket, cuddling with my kids and giggling. Oh well, the house is still a mess, but my heart is full! (May 8, 2010)
• (At Jacob's piano recital): Teacher, to J: 'You did a great job, Jacob! ...and you didn't even need your music!' J: 'Ya. Thanks. Pretty impressive for someone my age, huh?' Teacher: 'Oh yes!!' (giggling) 'Very impressive!' S: (Hangs head in hands and tries to crawl under a bench...hoping my kid doesn't see me laugh. O. My. Stars.) (May 10, 2010)

• (On our way to the YMCA) J: (from the back seat) 'I just saw a tater tot.' R&S: (??????) S: Describe the tater tot you saw, Honey. (J gives a brief description) S: (laughing hard): 'Jacob, you mean teeter totter! NOT tater tot!' R: 'Come sit on the tater-totter!' • My litlle Anna Boo is brushing my hair and attempting to put a barrette in my giant mane.
Thanks. Pretty impressive for someone my age, huh?' Teacher: 'Oh yes!!'
