Wow. What a fun day we had! We. Are. Pooped!
The Johsnons came through Wichita again today to celebrate Emmanuel's birthday; their family and ours went to the Derby Water Park. The place was SWARMING with people, but we really had fun. We slathered ourselves with sunscreen and got wet (well all of us but Ruth and me...we spent our time chasing our boys and taking pictures!).
Jacob seem to pack courage in his back pocket today, because he did a lot of stuff I didn't expect! He went down the slides either by himself or with Emmanuel (no adult)! The BIGGEST accomplishment was his first time jumping off a high dive! He told me he was interested in going, so I told him to get in line. As he was waiting, I decided to let him know that when he would get to the top and walk down to the edge of the diving board, it would all the sudden seem much further down than when he was looking up at it from the side of the pool. I told him to just take a deep breath and go for it.
When he got the edge, he looked at me and said, "Um. No. I don't think I can do this, Mom." I reminded him of our conversation and told him to just try. He surprised me by smiling and saying, "OKAY!" With that, he plugged his nose, closed his eyes and jumped in...feet first (I told him to do this too!). He came up screaming, "Emmanuel!! You have GOT to try this!"
hahaha!! I was pretty darn proud of him!
We had such a grand time with our friends! We are excited that we get to hang out with them again on Tuesday morning. That will be the last time we see them before they return to Beijing.
Here are some fun pictures of our day!
